Movie Magic Budgeting 7 - Installation

These instructions will assist you with installing your movie Magic Budgeting 7 software. If you run into any problems with the installation, Customer Service can be contacted via telephone within the U.S. at: 800.624.3472 or 818.955.6331, or email


Step 1. CLICK HERE and select the appropriate download for your Operating System.


Step 2. An installation file will begin to download. Once the download is complete, double-click it.



Step 3. Click Open to run the installer.



Step 4. Click Next and follow the installation prompts:


a. Welcome- read then click Next.
b. License Agreement- Check "I accept the terms of the License Agreement" then click Next.
c. Choose Install Folder- click Choose... A new window will appear “Select a Folder”. Locate the desktop, click Choose. Click Next.
d. Choose an Alias Folder- Select “In the Dock”. Click Next.
e. Summary- Review your selections, if correct click Next, if not click previous to fix the concern.
f. Enter Password- Enter your laptop’s administrator password. Click Next.

Per the Developer: Special characters in the computer's administrator password will cause an error to occur that will not allow you to complete the installation

g. Installing- The installation will complete.
h. Important Information- Read then click Next.
i. Installation Complete- Click Done.

Step 5. A new window will appear- Do you want to Launch Movie Magic- Click Yes.

Step 6. An important announcement about Movie Magic versions will appear, Click OK.

Step 7. The software will open. The Activation Wizard window will open next. Click Activate License.

Step 8. Locate the activation code in your student email. Enter this code in the space provided. Click Next.

Step 9. Complete the required registration. 


Congratulations! You are now ready to begin exploring your new software.



If you encounter "Error -8" when activating the software in MacOS Sierra:

Navigate to this file path in Finder: Applications\Movie Magic\MM Budgeting\Config\Util

There will be a ZIP file. Unzip it and run the program following the instructions.

This program will repair your license and allow you to properly activate your computer and resolve the Error -8. 

You may or may not receive a message that the program completed with errors, this is fine. You should now re-open the budgeting program. It will prompt you to enter your license number again. 

Your product should then be activated after reviewing your contact information.
