This tutorial will walk you through the steps of setting up an Apple ID that does not have a credit card attached. For more information from Apple, click here.
Step 1. Open the app store and find any application listed as free-- For this example we have chosen the Twitter app.
Step 2. Click on the "Free" button once and it will turn into a green "Install App" button. Click on the green "Install App" button
Step 3. You will now be prompted to sign in but do not - instead click on the "Create Apple ID" button.
Step 4. You will be greeted with a welcome screen from the App store - Click continue
Step 6. On the next screen you will see under the credit card selection that "None" is an available option - Select this. You will still need to fill out a billing address even though we are not selecting a credit card for the account. Once this is complete click on the "Create Apple ID" button.
Step 7. On the next screen, you will be told that a verification email has been sent to the email address you entered in Step 2.
Step 8. Sign into your email account and locate the email from Apple - Remember to check your spam/junk folder if you do not see it in the inbox. Once you locate the email, click the "Verify Now" link.
Step 9. You will be directed to a screen where you will enter your newly created Apple ID (email address) and password. Click on the blue "Verify Address" to continue.
Step 10. You will now be told that your email address has been verified. On this screen click on the blue "Return to App Store" button. A window will appear asking you to launch an application. Select "App Store" and click "OK."
Step 11. Congratulations! You will be taken back to the app store and automatically logged in.
