Windows - Download a Windows .ISO File

The following article will walk you through downloading a Windows .ISO file from your DreamSpark/MSDNAA account. This may take 30 minutes or longer depending on your internet connection. Slow internet speeds can take up to two hours.

Step 1. Login to your DreamSpark (Now known as Microsoft Imagine) account and click "Your Account/Orders"


Step 2. Click "Microsoft Windows 7 Professional with Service Pack 1 64-bit (English) - MSDNAA" to open the receipt page. If you have not copied down your 25 character product code please do so now.


Step 3. Click “Start Download”.


Step 4. This will open the instructions page for downloading the Microsoft Secure Download Manager. Click "Download SDM".


Step 5. After SDM has finished downloading, locate and open the SDM.pkg file on your computer. This will open the SDM installer. Follow the on screen instructions to install SDM.


Step 6. After SDM is successfully installed, go back to the instructions page and click "Download .SDX".


Step 7. After the .SDX download completes, it will automatically open in SDM. If it does not automatically open in SDM, locate the .SDX file on your computer and double click it. When SDM is open, click "Start Download" for "DreamSpark - Windows 7 Professional with Service Pack 1 64-bit (English)".

Please note that this is a VERY large download (over 2GB) and you MUST remain connected to the internet through the whole download process. If the connection is interrupted or you receive an error message you will have to start the download over again. Depending on your internet speed, this download could take 10 minutes up to a couple of hours to complete.

Step 8. Once the download is complete locate the "Windows 7 Professional with Service Pack 1 (x64) - DVD (English)" folder on your computer. This folder will contain a Windows .ISO file
